Michelle has a special interest in helping people to understand the effects of an Eating Disorder on someone’s life and their relationships. She acknowledges the current societal pressures that often promotes a particular body size and shape that leaves many people vulnerable to an Eating Disorder. She also helps people reconnect with some of their preferred ways of thinking and behaving and living that this problem has disconnected them from. Michelle’s knowledge around this work is very much guided by the many hours of conversations in therapy over the years she has had with people experiencing this problem. Most people who see Michelle with this problem start meeting very regularly and remain engaged in therapy for quite some time.

  • Specialist credential: ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician, specialist training in CBT-E – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders and SSCM – Specialist Supportive Clinical Management 
  • Areas of practice: Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, disordered eating, body image, co-occurring anxiety/depression/trauma

Approach

Michelle works from a weight-inclusive, evidence-based framework, supporting sustainable recovery through trauma informed, client-centred care. 

Michelle is very experienced in working with people who have an Eating Disorder affecting their lives. This may be Anorexia, Bulimia or Binge-Eating Disorder. She is an ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician. She has received training in CBT-E and SSCM and she engages in regular training and workshops to maintain her accreditation. She is very committed to working collaboratively with GP’s and Dieticians.

You don’t need a referral to book. You can contact Michelle directly to arrange an appointment.
If you’d like to access Medicare rebates, ask your GP for an Eating Disorder Mental Health Care Plan. This entitles you to rebates on up to 40 individual sessions in a 12-month period as agreed by your Doctor with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. 
Michelle also sees clients through NDIS and EAP (Employee Assistance Programs), and offers telehealth appointments for clients who prefer online sessions.

FAQs

Do I need an EDP to see Michelle for an Eating Disorder?

No. However if you would like a Medicare rebate you will need to see your GP. Michelle can also complete and score a full Eating Disorder Assessment you can take to your GP

Whilst it is not necessary, it is best evidence based practice for clinicians to work collaboratively with GP’s and Dieticians to support someone with an Eating Disorder.

Your GP will decide how regularly you need to be seen.
