Michelle has significant experience in working with people who have experienced complex trauma in their lives. Trauma can often leave people feeling quite powerless, lost and stuck. Michelle’s conversations hope to leave people feeling less overwhelmed with very strong feelings and emotions and instead able to see things more clearly. In trauma recovery work Michelle works collaboratively with clients to reframe people’s traumatic experiences in ways that prioritize resilience and strength rather than victimhood.

• Accreditation: Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) – Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
• Specialist credential: ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician, specialist training in CBT-E – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders and SSCM – Specialist Supportive Clinical Management 
• Areas of practice: Trauma Counselling including; Acute Trauma, Chronic Trauma, Complex Trauma (C-PTSD), Developmental Trauma, Vicarious (or Secondary) Trauma, Intergenerational/Historical Trauma.

Approach

Michelle hopes in her conversations instead of feeling passively caught in a never – ending cycle of pain and helplessness, the therapy will highlight the unique and powerful will for greater peace and love in one’s life that invited clients to therapy in the first place. Michelle invites stories of strength, survival and hope and focuses on what clients have done well and the resources they’ve used to get through tough times so as to foster a sense of agency. Michelle’s work is also very much informed by the many hours of trauma work with clients in her long career.

You don’t need a referral to book. You can contact Michelle directly to arrange an appointment.
If you’d like to access Medicare rebates, ask your GP for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). This entitles you to rebates on up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
Michelle also sees clients through NDIS and EAP (Employee Assistance Programs), and offers telehealth appointments for clients who prefer online sessions.
